Highlight the References list. I was writing a technical paper for a course I am studying for at university. Easy Peasy. For repeat visitor, Just copy the references to Excel, sort alphabetically and copy back to Word past text only to remove table.
I think the error message you're receiving is because of the numerical referencing system you instituted in your document. How do I indent my references in Microsoft Word? I did it after reading this.
